Privacy

What we collect when you book, why we need it, who else sees it and how to have it removed. Written under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Who is responsible

Each house is run as its own business. The one that holds your data is the house you booked:

What we collect

  • From the booking form: your name, email address, telephone number, the house, dates, number of guests, the room, and anything you write in the message box
  • From the payment: the amount, the currency and a reference number from Stripe. Card numbers never reach us — Stripe holds those
  • At check-in: the identity-document details of every guest, because Italian law requires us to report them

Why, and on what legal basis

  • To hold the room, take the payment and host you — performing the contract you made with us
  • To report guests to the police and to account for the city tax and for tax purposes — a legal obligation we cannot opt out of
  • To answer your messages and to keep the site working and safe — our legitimate interest in running the business

Who else sees it

  • Stripe, which processes the card payment
  • Our email provider, which delivers your confirmation
  • The Italian police, and the Comune di Roma for the city tax, as the law requires
  • Nobody else. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

Cookies and things loaded from other sites

This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies, so there is no consent banner to click away. The only cookies are ones the site cannot work without: one that keeps staff logged in to the admin pages, and one — set only if you have just paid — that lets your own booking open without retyping the number. You can clear that one yourself from the booking lookup page.

One thing on this site can load from another company: the map on the location page, which comes from Google. It is not loaded automatically — opening that page tells Google nothing. Only pressing “Show map” loads it, and only then does Google receive your IP address. Everything else — including the fonts, which used to come from Google — is served from our own site, so no other company sees that you were here.

How long we keep it

Booking records are kept for ten years after the departure date, then deleted. Ten years is how long a claim about a stay can still be raised in Italy, and how long accounting records must be kept, so it is how long we need to be able to answer for a booking. The payment itself is also held by Stripe. If you want your record removed sooner, ask us — we delete whatever the law lets us delete.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, ask us to limit what we do with it, or object to it. Write to the house you booked, at the address below, and we will answer within a month. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
